The Molaton G3-class wheel, 250x75x150 mm (zirconia alumina, 16 grit, glass-fibre reinforced, 50 m/s, 3280 rpm recommended), is our direct replacement for Loram rail grinders. It is produced on the same aluminium-hub platform as our Harsco/Speno wheels and is validated on a real Loram DM01 machine.

Validation on a Loram machine (DM01, 2026)

In a head-to-head trial on a Loram DM01 (80% power, 7 km/h), Molaton stones were fitted to heads 1/3/5/7 against the incumbent stone on heads 2/4/6/8. Results: no burning on the ground rail, roughness 1.05-9.0 μm (mostly 2-4 μm, all below the 10 μm limit), metal removal 0.142-0.326 mm per 100 m·pass, and wheel consumption similar to the incumbent while cutting more metal. The No.2 Molaton formulation showed the best combined wear-to-cut ratio.

Earlier, a 600+ wheel batch on the Shuohuang heavy-haul line (2023.9-2024.5, 130-173 km·passes per stage) was accepted with all quality checks graded "good".
